A year ago, my husband and I thought this day would never
come. THE CROWNING CIRCLE seemed headed for its grave. I'd landed a
literary agent for the book in New York and she had secured a
Hollywood agent. When the manuscript went out, they stood ready to
handle an expected stampede.
But from all over New York came letters like this:
"I must let you know off the bat that I fell head over heels with Ms. Lankford's story. This plot is simply marvelous, replete with interesting characters and fascinating morsels from the world of computer engineering. However . . ."
Nineteen of them in all. Bottom line? Publishers liked my novel but they didn't think it would sell.
Those were sad days for us. Then I remembered that thirty-one regular people had also read the book and raved about it more than the editors.
My husband and I decided to take our case to the public and run the first poll of its kind on the Internet. Its current location is: http://www.novelpoll.com/tcc. We put up chapters, put up reader reactions and asked: Would you buy this novel if it were in print? When the votes exceeded three hundred, roughly two-thirds of them yes and 15% maybe (a high percentage for any book) - we decided to publish at Xlibris.com and sink our time and money into letting the reading public know THE CROWNING CIRCLE exists.
That's what we're doing now.
We hope you read THE CROWNING CIRCLE and, if you enjoy it, that you help us spread the word. In doing so, feel free to use the information above or to contact me for more. We are gratified by the reader reviews already arriving and hope you visit Amazon.com after the read and express your opinion as well.
Thank you so much for your interest and support. A brief excerpt from the novel follows.

"I know," she whispered, then she began humming, intoning in the six-eight meter of ca dao, Vietnam's ancient poetry which became its folk songs:
